r-Don't count your base weapon
out, if you can strafe out of the way of your opponents shots,
this
weapon
can take someone with full health down in 7 or 8 shots. Unlimited
Ammo.
Shotgun-Except as a last resort, medium to close range weapon,
this gun is pretty useless, the blaster
*seems*
more effective. Efficient use of ammo.
Super
Shotgun-EXCELLENT close range weapon, and usable at long range
either-use it with the Quad. Less
Efficient
than Shotgun, but still efficient compared to other weapons.
Machine
gun-a great circle strafe weapon, if you can keep your fire on
your opponent this weapon is quite
effective. Chews up ammo, but not as bad as other Rapid fire
weapons.
U Chain
Gun-personally not my favorite weapon, but it can be VERY
effective. This weapon can kill an armed opponent in less than a second after spool up-if
used properly.The long spool-down time seems to waste ammo, and
it is only effective at producing kills after the long spool-up
period. Chews up a LOT of ammo
quickly.
U Hand
Grenade-only useful as a last resort weapon, can be useful for
ambush tactics. Should be noted that with a direct hit, a hand grenade can kill an unarmed
opponent instantly. Efficient use of ammo.
Grenade
Launcher-good for ambush tactics, terrible long range, generally
a bad idea up close, watch out-don't step on your own fire.
Efficient use of ammo.
Rocket
Launcher-The classic DM weapon-decent long range, not a great
idea close up, can be used to jump higher. Check this page for an
alias for rocket jumping. Don't use close range with Quad unless
you are into Kamikazi tactics. Remember that the circle of damage
is quite big, so you don't have to hit your opponent to kill him,
necessarily. Hitting a surface (wall, crate, other opponent) very
close your opponent can inflict damage and even produce a frag.
But keep in mind that this can work against you-if you shoot
while too close, you will take damage yourself. Semi-efficient
use of ammo.
Hyper
Blaster-Remember the Cell Gun from Doom? This is the Quake 2
derivative, and it is very effective-a great weapon, excellent
close up and usable long range, great with the Quad-doesn't
damage the user if used improperly. Downfalls include the spool
up time, and the rather long spool down time. Rapidly consumes
ammo.
Rail
Gun-no circle of damage so don't use it if you aren't going to
aim carefully. The best long range sniper weapon ever-kills opponents practically
before they hear the weapon fire. I've found this to be one of
the most satisfying weapons of the bunch, because it you do
everything right-it provides a very satisfying result(One up in
the frag count). Learn to be effective with this weapon and you
will succeed. Efficient use of ammo-because it *can* kill on the
first hit, each shot could equal a frag.
BFG-Yea,
back (with different rules though) and possibly better than ever,
fire it just to see everyone in the room scramble-best used in
large groups because of it's very inefficient use of ammo. Long
spool up time, HUGE backlash and if fired too close it will
damage the user. But it is still very useful. Doesn't seem to
support the "lashing" technique from Doom. VERY
inefficient use of ammo. Check this page to find a demo on BFG
